I photograph weddings the way I would photograph anything else that was actually happening. I do not run the day, I do not line people up, and I do not pull you away from your own party for an hour of portraits. How that works in practice I blend in. Most couples tell me afterwards they forgot I was there, which is exactly the point. When guidance genuinely helps, during group shots or a short stretch of couple portraits, I step in, keep it calm and keep it brief, and then get back out of the way. Why I shoot like this Years from now, what you will look at is your dad laughing during the speeches. Not the venue, not the flowers, and not a row of people arranged in front of a wall. The practical side I shoot solo on two Nikon bodies, so nothing is lost if one fails. For larger weddings I bring in a second shooter from a small group of people I work with regularly and trust. Where I work I am based in Greenwich and I know the London registry offices and town halls particularly well, including Old Marylebone, Islington, the Trafalgar Tavern and Tudor Barn in Eltham. I also shoot barns, city venues and countryside weddings, and I photograph LGBTQ+ weddings.
