The churchyard features 200 trees, 300 tombstones, a walled garden, seating areas, and St Augustine's Tower alongside the Victorian church of St John at Hackney. The space benefits from CCTV and security lighting, with a children's play area and nearby public car parking. Recently restored with a £1.79 million Heritage Lottery Fund grant in 2007, it provides a quiet setting away from the busy shopping street, rich in local history spanning over 700 years.
